Care Guide

A pair of Steffie’s is built to last several seasons of regular wear. A few minutes of care a month keeps them in that condition.

Day one

Before the first wear, mist the upper with a water-and-stain protector made for suede or leather (Apple Garde and Collonil are both good). One light pass, let dry overnight, that’s the whole step. It’s the single biggest thing you can do for the life of the shoe.

Suede styles (Landmark Safari, Petal, and the rest of the suede family)

  • After every few wears: brush with a suede brush in one direction — lifts dust, refreshes the nap.
  • Scuffs: a suede eraser handles most. Press, don’t scrub.
  • Water marks: mist the whole upper lightly with water so it dries evenly, then brush once dry. Counterintuitive, works.
  • Real stains: a damp cloth with a drop of mild soap, blotted (not rubbed). Brush when dry.
  • Storage: stuff with tissue, return to the box. Suede doesn’t love a closet floor.

Smooth leather styles

  • Wipe-down: a soft cloth after wear. That’s most of it.
  • Conditioner: every couple of months for leather styles, a thin layer of neutral leather cream. Buff in, let absorb, buff off.
  • Scuffs: a leather cleaner takes most. Black or dark leather: a colored polish hides what cleaner can’t.

Metallic finishes (Landmark Palace champagne)

Metallic suede is suede with a fine shimmer; treat it as suede first. Skip the colored polish — it dulls the shimmer. The water-and-stain protector on day one is doubly worth it here.

The insole

The RoamFoam™ midsole is sealed under the insole and doesn’t need attention. The fabric insole on top is removable on most styles; if it’s damp from a long day, lift it out at night and let it air. A weekly shoe deodorizer (Lumi, Crep) is optional but extends the life of the insole.

Rain

Suede and heavy rain are not friends — that’s the one weather call to make. If you’re caught out, blot dry as soon as you’re inside, stuff with tissue, let air-dry away from heat for 24 hours, brush once fully dry. The rubber outsole with its linear grooves does its job in light rain — you’re mostly protecting the upper.

Storage

Keep them in the box, with tissue or shapers in the toe to hold the silhouette. Out of direct sun, off the closet floor. The box is part of the product — we designed it to do this job.

When to retire a pair

You’ll know. The outsole grooves wear smooth, the leather lining starts to give, the heel feels softer than it used to. We’d love to know when that day comes — customer feedback on real wear life is how we keep building these better.
